Excellence
A hallmark feature of Bachman Academy’s academic program is the recognition of individual learning styles. Students often perform more efficiently in non-traditional classrooms, such as the Woodworking Shop and Good Works Garage. Sites on our campus, including the full-size gym and lake, also become classrooms. Students are offered visual, auditory and “hands-on” instruction to increase knowledge of core subjects. In addition, Electives such as Horsemanship provide healthy venues for skill and self-esteem
building.
Creative
Collaboration
Because we respect the unique qualities our students possess, we value the ability to think “outside the box.” We see the strength in diversity, as supported by our recruitment of minority and international students.
Each day offers opportunities for “teaching moments.” Interventions are individualized based on each student’s needs. A “knee jerk” or limited response to a student’s actions may reduce the chance to help the student grow. Creative problems require creative solutions. Our ability to operate as a team, with a sense of selflessness and mutual accountability, enables us to work for the common good of our school. We are receptive to information from others in an effort to improve our services to students and staff.. We place high value on community involvement. Students participate regularly in church youth groups, community service projects and other social functions to promote an awareness of themselves and how their actions affect
others.

Academic Curriculum
The Bachman Academy academic program is designed to meet a student’s individual educational needs. The teaching staff has developed techniques and has selected materials to enable our students to be successful in developing your skills to the fullest
potential.
-
Class size is small, with approximately 6-8 students for each
teacher.
-
The curriculum meets the Tennessee standards for high school completion, and required 25 credits for
graduation.
-
Teachers use direct instruction, visual aids, computers, cooperative activities, tutoring, and other methods to ensure individual
success.
-
Our textbooks are selected based on National Assessment of Educational Progress standards, and our student’s academic levels. Textbooks are purchased by each student. Used textbooks may be purchased when available. Students are responsible for their books and personal
property.
-
We have frequent communication with students and their parents about their academic and social progress during their stay at Bachman
Academy.
